Education Committee

A standing committee of education is managed by AIK, with sub-committees for college education, professional college education, and architectural exhibition working towards improving education policies, education curricula, and contents.


Student Work Exhibition

At about the same time as the autumn conference, AIK hosts the Student Work Exhibition. The Student Work Exhibition began in 1998. It displays on the internet student works selected by universities and graduate schools on a national scale. The exhibition aims at furthering information exchange between universities and digitally storing the results. It also provides an opportunity of viewing the works of Korean architecture students from anywhere in the world. The pieces selected for the exhibition are displayed on monitors and panels at the assembly hall of the autumn academic conference, and may be viewed on the AIK homepage.


Competition

Every year since 2000, AIK has hosted a digital content competition to explore new areas of architecture information digitalization, to hasten the establishment of an architecture information infrastructure, and to popularize this digitalization. In addition, AIK hopes to encourage and sponsor students and professionals of architectural fields, and to balance the supply and demand by redistributing the workforce of architectural fields to IT fields of architecture. Awards are given for the 1st place contenders of the high-school, college, graduate school, and general divisions. All of the procedures besides the award ceremony may be viewed on the AIK homepage.

Awards

The AIK award is of the highest esteem in the field of architecture. It is divided into the achievement award, academic award, technology award, education award, thesis award, product award, and special award categories, and presented at the general meeting of each year.

Certification Program

The [ Certification of Environment-Friendly Building Design ] promotes buildings that minimize the impacts on the environment during its entire life cycle, i.e. its planning, construction, operation, maintenance, and demolition stages, with the goals of conserving energy and resources, minimizing pollution, preserving the natural environment, localization, and improving indoor comfort.

International Exchange Program

AIK is a registered member of International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction(CIB). Also, architectural exchange agreements have been signed with the Architectural Institute of Japan(AIJ), the Architectural Society of China(ASC), and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture(ASCA) of the United States.
