On May 27, 2026, the international earthquake engineering conference, AI E-SAFE 2026 : International Conference on Advanced Earthquake Engineering for Mid- and High-Rise Buildings, hosted by the Architectural Institute of Korea and Korea University and sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and POSCO, was held at the POSCO Center Art Hall with approximately 100 participants in attendance.
The conference was organized to share the latest technological trends and research achievements related to the seismic safety of mid- and high-rise buildings. Presenters included representatives from structural engineering associations in Korea and Japan, as well as faculty members from various countries. Presentations and discussions focused on major topics in advanced earthquake engineering, including seismic performance certification systems, structural resilience, structural health monitoring, nonstructural component safety, and AI- and machine learning-based structural technologies.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in in-depth discussions through Q&A sessions and panel discussions on practical applications of advanced technologies and strategies for enhancing seismic safety.
Through this conference, international collaborative networks were strengthened and the conference provided an important platform for sharing and disseminating research outcomes in structural and earthquake engineering. It is expected that the event will contribute to the broader implementation of AI-based advanced seismic technologies in practice and further enhance disaster resilience and building safety in the future.
